1Kings 17:1-16

Elijah prayed that there shall be neither dew nor rain, and rain ceased for three and half years. After rain had ceased, Elijah was not excepted from the consequence of his prayer. Elijah, being a man who knows how to hear when God speaks, had the privilege of overcoming lack by entering into GodÕs provision. Are you in place where the brook has dried up? 1 Kings 17:7, ÒAnd it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.Ó There is always a way out for those who know their God. Elijah knew his God, and there was a way for him to get out of lack and get into GodÕs provision. 1 Kings 17:8-9, ÒThen the word of the LORD came to him, saying, ÔArise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to < ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.ÕÓ Elijah was able to escape lack and enter into provision because when the Word came, he listened and followed without question. Elijah rose as he was commanded by the word of God and he had the privilege to see where the provision was placed. Responding to simple commands is not foolishness. 1 Kings 17:10, ÒSo he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, ÔPlease bring me a little water in a cup that I may drink.ÕÓ Elijah followed through with the word and entered into provision. If you will follow through His word you will receive your breakthrough by His word. He is the Almighty God.
