Lying

LYING< ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>

Acts < ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>4:32-37, 5:1-11

Every small lie will build up to a big time lie. Ananias and Sapphira were no strangers among the body of believers that voluntarily sell and share from their earnings. Ananias and Sapphira voluntarily sold possessions so as to voluntarily contribute their own portion. When it was time to declare what was gained from the selling of their possessions Ananias lied from the heart. Acts 5:3, ÒBut Peter said, ÔAnanias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?ÕÓ  Ananias kept back from being truthful to the gathering of the people of God. After the process of detecting and rebuking Ananias for lying, his wife Sapphira also came into the presence of the brethren. SapphiraÕs case was being in agreement with the husband to lie to the gathering of the people of God. Acts 5:9, ÒThen Peter said to her, ÔHow is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.Ó Both the husband and wife received instant judgment for not being truthful in the gathering that was before the Almighty God. A believerÕs lying or an agreement with a liar will always lead to a sudden or untimely death. The Bible did not mention how long the husband and wife had been lying but it is possible that they started by telling small lies before getting into big time lying. Ask God to search you and know your heart so that the Spirit of God will bring you out of lying that could lead to a sudden and untimely death.
