CONFESSION IS KEY
2 Chronicles 25:1-13
A conviction that the word of God is true beyond every reasonable doubt will produce confession that opens up heaven against every force of the wicked. The word of God is true to perform whenever confession is rooted in understanding and not in doubting. Amaziah the king of Judah was confronted by a war that called for more troops fighting his enemy. To Amaziah, the only help he could turn to was hired men of war from Israel that could help in fighting his war against the people of Edom. Amaziah, having hired men of war from Israel, the Lord sent him a messenger saying to him, “…O King, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the children of Ephraim. 8 But if you go, be gone! Be strong in battle! Even so, God shall make you fall before the enemy; for God has power to help and to overthrow.” (2 Chronicles 25:7-8) Inside the messenger of God’s message to Amaziah was a striking point that stated, “God has power to help and to overthrow.” This is a statement of confession. Amaziah believed in the confession, he responded to the confession and victory became his portion. Asa the king of Judah was confronted by a million man army from Ethiopia (2 Chronicles 14:9). There was no way out for Asa but to be defeated. Asa turned to the word of confession that opened up heaven for his victory when he stated, “… LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!” 12 So the LORD struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.” (2 Chronicles 14:11-12) Just like Asa, Jehoshaphat in his war against Moab and Ammon, turned to the word of confession. Word of confession was his key that turned heaven open for appropriate help against his enemies’ of confrontation. Jehoshaphat confessed, “And said LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? (2 Chronicles 20:6). The same God that honors the confession of Amaziah, Asa, and Jehoshaphat is the same God today and forever more. God is true to His word, He has never failed, He will not fail and He does not have any reason to fail. Do you have any reason to seek Him and not find Him? Our God is a mighty warrior and He alone is great in battle. What is warring against your life? Asa, Amaziah and Jehoshaphat had heaven opened when they turned the heavenly key which is the word of confession.
Prayer for today: Father let your word that will deliver me from every confrontational enemy sound in my direction as a weapon in hand for me to use.
