Get Wisdom

FAITH CAPSULE: Wisdom is profitable for all things and every decision making.

1 Samuel 23:1-5, Proverbs 4

The application of wisdom in every area of life brings forth good and enviable result. There are different kinds of wisdom but the only wisdom that is certain to deliver good and enviable result is the wisdom of God. However, the wisdom of this age and of the rulers of this age is the one that will come to nothing. Apostle Paul was speaking in 1 Corinthians 2:6-8, “…we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” In your world, which wisdom are you operating? In a world of lying, deception and manipulation wisdom of God is what it takes to prevail and that demands the need to pay attention to the word of Proverbs 4: 7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom…” No man was born with wisdom but man does have a need to seek for wisdom before getting it and that is why the word commanded, “…therefore get wisdom.” Giving attention to knowing the instructions in the pages of scripture is a sure and undeniable source of getting wisdom. Clearly, it is wisdom in the word of God that builds the fear of God in man’s heart. It cannot be well stated than Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lordis the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” King David’s understanding of God must have been rooted in his wisdom. God also testified of him as a man after His own heart. (1 Samuel 13:14) The Bible repeatedly mentioned how David going out wherever Saul sent him and behaved wisely. Wisdom must have been the main reason why he was also able to escape every trap of death in his life.Once he was set for war against the Philistines and the Bible recorded, “Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?”And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines, and save Keilah.”” (1 Samuel 23:2) Right after getting a go ahead response from God, his men reacted saying, “Look, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more than if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”” (1 Samuel 23:3) Without wisdom, it would have been easier for David to listen to man’s wisdom. However, he went back once again to the Lord and the Lord answered him and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.” (1 Samuel 23:4) Wisdom is profitable for all things and every decision making. Get wisdom.
