FAITH CAPSULE: How do we carry the word of God?
Genesis 39
The word of God has been diluted in many ways instead of retaining the word of God in the heart. Many are adding or taking away from what God said. Proverb 30:6 warned, “Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” The book of Revelation 22:18 also warned, “For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book.” In the journey of life, give self to carrying the word of God to avoid diluting the word of God; to avoid adding or taking out from the word of God.
How do we carry the word of God?
Ones that carries the word will be carried by the word through in this wicked world. The bible makes us to apprehend that we are to carry the word in our heart. Bible recorded, “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.” (Deuteronomy 6:6) “Therefore, you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 11:18) “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11) “Moreover He said to me: “Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears.” (Ezekiel 3:10)
Joseph is a testimony that carried the word in the heart and could arrive at the center of God’s divine assignment for his life. As he journeyed, sin presented itself to him when the wife of his master approached him to lie with her. Joseph disengaged sin stating, “…How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:19) Joseph hide the word of God in his heart not to sin. Imagine what could have happened to Joseph’s great journey in life if he had fallen for his master’s wife sin trap. It was the word you are carrying in the heart that will serve as a key to open door for deliverance and breakthrough in the journey of life.
Meditating the word of God in the heart will elevate man in the journey of life.
Word of God promised to deliver the Israelites to the Promise Land and the word of promise stayed in the heart of Caleb. Joshua 14:7 recorded Caleb’s testimony, “I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.”
Caleb and Joshua could not deliver negative report as a spy but positive as the word of God they had in the heart. Come out of memorizing the word in your head; commit to meditating the word in the heart.
Prayer for today: Ask for the grace to turn your heart to a hidden place for His word.
