Matthew 6:5-15, 1Kings 17:1-7
The word says in James 5:17, ÒElijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years.Ó Elijah prayed a standing prayer, not a standard prayer. A standard prayer is what someone closes their eyes and pray a general prayer; a prayer that does not go beyond the nose of the one that is praying it. A standing prayer is one that a believer, who has a close walk with God, prays without any doubt because the prayer is backed by the power in the word. Taking a stand in prayer is to have taken a stand in the word of God. Elijah has a stand in the word of God. As a result, his prayer was an answer-generating prayer. Do you have a stand in the word of God? Among the stand that will establish you in the power of prayer is to be living in the word so that it will be impossible for the Word of God not to respond. Mark 11:25, ÒAnd whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.Ó Only God knows how many have entered your diary of no forgiveness, claiming that Elijah is a man like you, claiming that you are speaking in tongues. It is a lie, and God does not operate against His word. What you are doing is having a standard prayer, a general prayer. Take your stand in the word of God by living your life in the word, not in the world. Elijah is a man like us but not a mind like ours, or else he would have been praying a standard prayer a, general prayer. Take your stand in the word of God and you will move mountains with your prayer.
