REASONABLE SACRIFICE< ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
Genesis 22:1-14, 46:1-7
Giving God a reasonable sacrifice will allow Him to direct you in all areas of life. Jacob and his family were to go down to < ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>Egypt to avoid famine and to join Joseph. Jacob did not leap into the journey; instead he gave it to the Lord first. Genesis 46:1-3, ÒSo Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. 2 Then God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, ÒJacob, Jacob!Ó And he said, ÒHere I am.Ó 3 So He said, ÒI am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.Ó Because Israel (Jacob) offered sacrifices that were reasonable, God showed up on his behalf. Israel heard from God all that was needed in order for him to embark on his journey. In another example of a reasonable sacrifice, Abraham without doubt had given up Isaac in his heart as a sacrifice to God. Genesis 22:11-13, ÒBut the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, ÒAbraham, Abraham!Ó So he said, ÒHere I am.Ó 12 And He said, ÒDo not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.Ó 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.Ó What are you giving up to God? All that you have, all that you are and all that you can be is in the hand of God. It is clear in the pages of the Bible that every reasonable sacrifice will bring forth GodÕs attention in every area of life. Will you consider the kind of sacrifice that you are rendering unto God? If your sacrifice is reasonable He will give you a reasonable visitation.
