Numbers 14

How can it be explained? A journey of eleven days went on and on for forty years. It was neither forty hours nor forty days. Neither was it forty weeks, nor forty months, but forty years. The children of Israel were to travel through the wilderness to their Promised Land for eleven days, but the journey went on for forty years. Are you experiencing a time of wandering around in a wilderness situation? At times it is good to have a wilderness journey, but it is not good to live in the wilderness. The generation that came out of Egypt did not only journey in the wilderness, but they wandered around until the wilderness passed them unto death and they were not able to see or step on the Promised Land. The children of Israel did not just become wanders in the wilderness by accident, but by their acts of complaints against God trapped them in thr wilderness. Acts of complaining are acts of self-destruction, and termination. Can you make sure that nothing is testifying against you before God? Due to their incessant complaining against what God was doing in their life, God responded in Numbers 14:22-23, ÒBecause all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice, 23 they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it.Ó God promised to take them to the Promised Land. He showed them great and mighty signs in Egypt, and on their way out of Egypt. The signs and wonders of God are His testimonies. His testimonies are more than enough to transport believers to the Promised Land. Are you constantly meditating on His testimonies? The Psalmist knew what he was doing by virtue of his confessions in Psalm 119:2, ÒBlessed are those who keep His testimonies, Psalm 119:14, :I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, As much as in all riches, Psalm 119: 24, ÒYour testimonies also are my delight and my counselors, Psalm 119:46, I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. The testimonies of God are all the things that He has done, and the things that He is doing, and the ones He will do. His testimonies are worthy of mediation. What are the testimonies that you are carrying? What are the testimonies of your heart?  The testimonies of God provokes faith. Hebrew 11:6 ÒBut without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.Ó Let today be your day of meditating on the testimonies of God. How can we explain it? A journey of 11 days went for 40 years. Fear God and you will not fail.
