Awesome And Unusual Act
Joshua 10:1-21, Samuel 5:6-10
Against every situation that is mocking and denying you from possessing what the Lord has promised you, against those that have gathered against you indirectly, pray this prayer, today, “For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon— That He may do His work, His awesome work, and bring to pass His act, His unusual act.”(Isaiah 28:21) At Mount Perazim David in his attempt to claim Jerusalem from the Jebusites as part of the land that the Lord had given the children of Israel, he encountered a mockery rebuke, “And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.” (2 Samuel 5:6) David went against the Jebusites and no one could stop him because the Lord God was with him. It happened to be that, “…When Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it—as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king—and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them, 2 that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.” (Joshua 10:1-2) As a result of the conquering power of Joshua and the fact that Gibeon had become Joshua’s interest, Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, was moved by fear and went and gathered other kings of Amorites against Gibeon. This was an indirect attack by Adoni-Zedek against Joshua because Gibeon was among the children of Israel and they had a peace treaty with Joshua. By virtue of this confrontation, the men of Gibeon sent for Joshua’s help and the war became that of Joshua. It was a war that God took over and fought for Joshua unlike any other war. It was the war where “…Sun stood sill over Gibeon and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” (Joshua 10:12) Would you not want to see God move on your behalf against every direct and indirect operation of the enemies against your life? Ask God because He has spoken that we should ask, seek and knock. He is not a partial God and He is still in the business of awesome works and unusual acts against all that stands against us.
