DO NOT COMPLAIN

FAITH CAPSULE: Prayer, not determination, will help us to avoid complaining.

Numbers 14
God can never change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the unchanging changer. However, God is not like man. He does not like it when we murmur and complain. Oftentimes, as a result of our complaining we have to suffer the consequences. . A case in point is the children of Israel. He did not overlook it when the children of Israel complained against Him; and He still does not overlook it when we complain even today. When we murmur and complain against God, it sends a clear message that we do not trust God. As a result of our lack of trust, we suffer the consequences by staying in the wilderness much longer than God intended. Complaining instead of appreciating the work of His mighty hand can cause us great pain and suffering that could be avoided. When we complain, it could also cause a major delay to our breakthrough. The children of Israel constantly complained, both directly and indirectly,against God. The result was their stagnation in the wilderness. Numbers 14:27-28, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me. Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the LORD, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.” In the course of their complaints to God, He heard them as they spoke negatively to Him. They confessed death, reversal and all that did not glorify God. There is a need to be conscious of the words that come out of your mouth regardless of what you are going through today. The Bible says in Proverb 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Therefore, we have to pay careful attention to the words that comes out of our mouth. The children of Israel did not pay attention to what they were confessing in their complaints and negative speech. Prayer, not determination, will help us to avoid complaining. Complaining against God could also lead to our termination. How long will you doubt and not believe that He is able to make a way and see you through. Despite all that you are going through and all that stands against you don’t complain. Put your trust in God and He will make a way and means you never imagined and see you through to your expected end.

Prayer for today: Ask God for His grace not to enter a conscious or unconscious act of complaining against His Holy name.
