FAITH CAPSULE: It is your turning to God that turns you into your center of divine assignment.
1 Samuel 17
Are you positioning yourself well enough where the Lord is able to get your attention? Every man’s turning point is directly rooted in one’s positioning. Also, every one’s turning point is different from the next man’s turning point. Moses’ turning point came to be at Horeb, the Mountain of God. The Bible recorded, “…the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” (Exodus 3:2-3) God waited for Moses to turn before God called him. It is written, “So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” (Exodus 3:4)
King David’s turning around to the center of divine assignment did not manifest until he killed Goliath. David was responding to his father’s command to go and see his brothers who were among the armies of Israel at the battle camp against Goliath and the Philistines. David’s obedience was a turning that led to not returning as a shepherd boy but rather as a giant killer and next in line as king for the people of God. The giant Goliath, as strong as he was, caused fear to hold down the armies of Israel. The armies of Israel were under incessant insult from Goliath for forty days; morning and evening. Goliath went as far as stating, “’I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.’ When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine; they were dismayed and greatly afraid.” (I Samuel 17:10-11) Goliath’s claim caused David to look and behold before turning around to face Goliath. David rejected every persuasion from his brother and King Saul to not fight Goliath. David’s turning aside was ignited when he responded, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you…” (1 Samuel 17:45-46) David did exactly what he said and Goliath was history. It was after the fall of Goliath that David took a turn to the center of his divine assignment. Without turning to God, the journey to the center of His divine assignment for your life will not be turned on.
Prayer for today: Ask God to help you not to miss when He is calling you to see and turn to the center of your divine assignment.
