FEAR AND TRUST HIM

FAITH CAPSULE: To fear God is to trust in Him.

Daniel 3

The apostles fear the Lord and they were steadfastly engaged in God’s business. Once, as they continue in their calling, “Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison.  But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.” (Acts 5:17-20) The prison of life could not retain the apostles who were busy doing what is right before God. The most interesting part of the escape documentation states, “But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,  saying, “Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!” (Acts 5:22-23) The angels who came does not need key to open up the jail but they were the key to every challenge in the life of those who fear God.

Indeed the word of God is perfect to perform; the word of God carries power to deliver when man engages demanding conditions of the word of God. Psalm 34:7 performs and perfects what the word says in the life of the apostles while they were in prison. The word states, “The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.”  The apostles feared God and deliverance answered on their behalf through the angel of God.

Are you in any prison of life? Does it look like there is no way out of the prison? Do you truly and convincingly fear God? One thing is certain, God has not fail, God cannot fail and God will never fail when it comes to honoring His word over the ones who truly live fully by His word. However, His way of delivering or moving on behalf of those who truly live by His word is different and unique. Man must be steadfast and not doubt God in every area of expectation for His intervention.

Daniel’s three friends (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego) were sentenced to die by fire. Daniel’s friends could not doubt God when there was no way of escape. Despite no way of escape, they declared, “But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Daniel 3:18) They were fearful of God and God answered with uncommon miracle. King Nebuchadnezzar saw and spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him…” (Daniel 3:28) To fear God is to trust in Him.

Prayer for today: Ask in Jesus’ name that the fear of God should overtake and rule your life.
