FAITH CAPSULE: An acclaimed believer should desire the mind of Christ.
John 13
Paul admonished in Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
What is it about the mind of Christ?
Do you have the mind of Christ?
The mind of Christ is a humble mind, a mind that is plain, simple and set before God.
At a point in time, the disciples questioned Jesus, “…Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” (Matthew 18:1) Jesus’ response clearly described humility as the way out to become the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom.” (Matthew 18:3-4) Jesus’ answer is a wakeup call for those with wrong assumptions of what it is to be ready to become the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
To be greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is distant for all until one is converted to become one as little child.
The title of any man on earth is not evidence of humility before God. The title of a man is not a ticket to become the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. One that is not filled by Christ is not full of God’s word (Jesus Christ) and is not with the Spirit of God.
Little children are with mindset humility because they have no spirit of pride with the identity of malice, deception, and un-forgiveness that cannot see God. Jesus demonstrated for His disciples then and today about the importance of humility in John 13:1, “Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from the supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.” (John 13:3-5) There is no perfect way to teach and demonstrate what it means to be humble than documentation of Jesus’ way of humility.
As an acclaimed believer with a title which is esteemed high among fellowship, is the humble spirit your mindset? Among your family, friends, and co-workers, are you decorated with humility but not demonstrating what it means to be humble?
An acclaimed believer should desire the mind of Christ where humble becomes the identity of acclaimed believers. To be humble is to be with no pride which does not parade with arrogance, malice, and self-importance. Deny mind of this world and let the mind of Christ be in you.
The position or the title of today is not an evidence of the mind of Christ with humility. Director, Pastor, Reverend, Bishop, or whatever God has called you to be, or that you have chosen for yourself should answer with the mind of Christ which is humble.
Prayer for today: Ask for the mind of Christ Jesus to become of you.
