DOUBTING TO PRETENDING
1 Kings 14:1-20
When Jeroboam became the King of Israel, just as the Lord had spoken, he could not maintain his God given position. It is dangerous ground when God places you somewhere and you remove yourself in a way that is not in line with the word of God. God gave His word to Jeroboam, and He performed it when Jeroboam became the king of Israel. Why did Jeroboam give way to doubt and begin to build idol in an attempt to deny his people from going to Jerusalem to worship? Why did he have to be concerned about what was in the heart of his people? Has the Lord planted you in a position that is making you give the way to worrying? Are you concerned about what will happen when you have not yet resumed the assignment that the Lord has placed before you? With unnecessary worrying, doubt will be activated and failure becomes inevitable just like in the life of Jeroboam. “If these people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn back to their lord, Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and go back to Rehoboam king of Judah. (1Kings 12:27) With the above thought inside of Jeroboam, he went and built something outside of God for his people. Jeroboam’s actions did not settle well for him before God. Doubt is not of God, it is of the devil. Whenever a room is given to the devil, he will undoubtedly attempt to take the whole building. Jeroboam entered into the roller coaster of sin and began sinning because he allowed sin to set his feet into his building. Jeroboam graduated from doubt to disguising. 1 Kings 14:1-2, “At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick. 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please arise, and disguise yourself, that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh. Indeed, Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over this people.” The plot of disguising did not prevail, because God exposed the plot before the prophet. “1 Kijngs 14:6, “And so it was, when Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps as she came through the door, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another person? For I have been sent to you with bad news.”From doubting to disguising and pretending, Jeroboam called for himself a very disastrous curse that terminated his life and all that belonged to him. The trick master, the devil, should never be allowed to take a step or else he will take all available ground. Whatever has started in your life that is not of God, take it to Him prayer for intervention before it terminates your life and all that belongs to you.
