FAITH CAPSULE: Evidence of hearing Him is doing as He says.
Proverbs 19
God identifies Jesus in Luke 3:22, “And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You, I am well pleased.”
The love of God is the reason for the sent of Jesus for all freely, but the blessings He brought along to all demands condition.
Luke 9:35 records, “And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” Make it a way of life to be hearing from God.
Hearing Him by listening is the way to be blessed.
It is impossible to hear His word by listening and not doing His word.
Jesus is the wisdom of God for all that will accept Him.
He is the instruction that will make the hearer of Him live life abundantly. Jesus confirms, “I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)
Evidence of hearing Him is doing as He says.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, instructed at the wedding of Canaan of Galilee with the lack of wine, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
Hearing Him by listening is the source to fear of God.
Are you allowing the fear of God to reign and rule your life?
To fear God is to live life abundantly, the blessing Jesus brought to all.
Proverbs 19:23 states, “The fear of the LORD leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil.
In life, the fear of God will cause the hearer to abide in satisfaction.
One with satisfaction will shut out the evil one.
Are you hearing Him enough to be satisfied, living life abundantly?
Judas, a disciple of Jesus, was positioned to hear the word day and night but yet disqualified from his calling.
Judas could not be satisfied but lust for money.
In life, the lust for money will cause anyone to become vulnerable to evil agenda.
The Bible identified the lust of Judas: “But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.” (John 12:4-6)
Judas loves money.
Judas was not satisfied.
Judas was not content but contaminated by lust for money.
1 Timothy 6:9-10 recorded the evil of satisfaction which is lust, “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
