FAITH CAPSULE: Why not give self to the word of God?

Genesis 19

The word of the Apostle Paul encourages all, “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32)
Why not give self to the word of God?
One who commits to the word of God is bound to live according to the word of God.
There will always be a way out of the wicked for one who is committed to the word of God.
Know that the word of God is for deliverance and preservation for one committed to it.
Commit to the word of God but not the world.
Like the wife of Lot, a lack of commitment to the word of God is the avenue to her self-destruction.
Genesis 19:17 states the word of deliverance for Lot and his wife, “…Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.”
Lot was committed to the word of God, but his wife took to the avenue of self-destruction, evidence of non-commitment to the word of God.
Genesis 19:26 records, “But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.”
Commitment to the word of God is evidence of obedience.
The consequence of disobedience is destruction.
The word of God encourages prayer.
Ask that the spirit of commitment to the word of God become your way of life.
Ask not to become a victim of despising the word of deliverance as it sounds in your direction.
Pray that the spirit that prompts one to look away from the word of God shall not have a place in your life.
The repetition of the word of God is evidence of emphasis, giving attention to the word of God for the escape of Lot and his wife.
Genesis 19:17 records the need for escape twice for Lot and his wife, “…Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.”
Ask that the direction of God, into the way of the escape, shall continually be activated in your life.
A life of commitment to the word of God demands to live according to the word of God.
Live life by the word of God, become exposed to the mercy of God, and gain and retain His presence.
Numbers 14:18 records, “The Lord is long-suffering and abundant in mercy…”
A man runs out of the mercy of God, but God does not run out of His mercy.
One who does not live by the word of God and expects to gain and retain the presence of God is an error.
The goodness of God is abundant and sufficient but never becomes insufficient for those who live life by His word.

Prayer for today: Ask that you be enabled to live continually according to the word of God to gain and retain His presence.
